A seminar on the Interface of Plant Disease Epidemics, Food Safety and Food Security: Implications for One Health
A three-day seminar entitled ‘Interface of Plant Disease Epidemics, Food Safety and Food Security: Implications for One Health’ was held in Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu, in southern India from 12 to 14 November 2025 with the support of the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR). Jean-Noël Aubertot from INRAE’s AGroecology, Innovations and teRritories research unit (AGIR) represented the institute’s AgroEcoSystem research division.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Plant Pathology Department of the Centre for Plant Protection Studies of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and l’Institut Agro Rennes-Angers.
The seminar set out to:
- improve mutual understanding of the research conducted in India and France in the field of in plant protection for food security and the concept of One Health
- promote collaborative research involving l’Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, INRAE, CIRAD and IRD and different Indian teams from 18 research structures.
The Indo-French seminar marked an important step forward in strengthening collaboration between India and France in research on crop protection for global food and health security.
