International Sheep Genomics and International Goat Genome Consortia combined virtual annual meeting 2021

Launched by INRAE Occitanie-Toulouse and AgResearch, the annual meetings of the International Sheep Genomics Consortium (ISGC) and the International Goat Genomics Consortium (IGGC) have been combined this year into this virtual conference in the absence of PAG2021. In the form of 3 virtual meetings, they are open to all those interested in the development and use of resources for the study of the sheep and goat genomes.

This year it’s a special issue "Genetics and Breeding of Small Ruminants": Previous global collaborative efforts of the International Sheep Genomics Consortium (ISGC) and the International Goat Genome Consortium (IGGC) have generated essential resources for advanced molecular studies in genomics and genetics to improve selection for productive traits, animal health and welfare. The success of this recent development and the broad scientific interest in sheep and goats have prompted a special issue on this topic!

The long-term goals of the ISGC and IGGC are to develop science-based resources for the sheep and goat research community. This translates into the continued improvement of genome assemblies, the development and refinement of various arrays, and ensuring that whole genome sequence data is captured for variant detection and annotation. Combining these resources with functional sequencing assays will improve genome annotation and ultimately our understanding of the genome to phenome for livestock improvement in a changing environment.

This event will be conducted as three 2-hour sessions from 10pm to midnight (CET) on 3 consecutive days, June 8-10, 2021.
