[Replay] Flood risk, resistance of dikes and dams: what our specialists say (in French)

INRAE’s hydrology and hydraulics experts are working alongside geomechanical and civil engineers at the institute’s Lyon, Aix-en-Provence and Antony centres to tackle the physical aspects of this complex issue. It is also important to measure the economic impacts of flood and build flood-aware communities with the capacity to navigate the associated risks. Research on these dimensions is being pursued by our teams of economists, sociologists and political scientists, particularly in Montpellier. Our experts must also be ready to advise on international emergencies when the call goes out

Cités des Sciences conference "Rain and floods on a global scale: better to prevent!" (in french)

Afghanistan, Sahel, Mississippi, Europe... in recent years, unprecedented rainfall and flooding have affected a large part of the world.
Climate intensification, population concentration and soil sealing intensify the damage. How can we prevent risks, make people safe and adapt to new hydro-climatic contexts?

Maria-Helena Ramos, INRAE research director, Ali Abdou, hydrologist, head of the Information and Research Department of the Agrhymet Regional Centre, and Guillaume Favreau, IRD representative in Niger, will provide an answer.  Round table organised by the Cité des sciences on 4 November 2021, and moderated by Anne-Cécile Bras, journalist at RFI.
